1. Nature of the Service
Kanawha County Property Records is an independent reference site. It describes public property systems and links to the offices that keep them. No government files are hosted here, and the operators are not affiliated with a court, county department, recorder or assessor.
2. Acceptable Use
Use the site only for lawful purposes. You must not use it or information reached through it to:
- Stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate or harm a person
- Commit identity theft, deed fraud or another crime
- Make a decision covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act
- Scrape or republish the site's material at scale
- Disrupt the service or defeat its security
Misuse may violate these terms and applicable law.
3. FCRA Restriction
This is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 and following. Information on this site or returned by a linked search service is not a consumer report and may not be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance or another purpose regulated by the FCRA.
4. No Title or Survey Advice
A property lookup is not a title search, legal opinion, boundary survey or appraisal. Public indexes and assessment maps can be incomplete or outdated. A title company, attorney or licensed surveyor provides the professional review needed for a legal ownership or boundary conclusion.
5. Third-Party Services
Government portals, public libraries and sponsored search providers have their own terms, prices, content and privacy rules. The operators do not control those services and are not responsible for their availability, results, charges or data practices.
6. No Warranties
The service is supplied on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent law permits, the operators make no express or implied warranty that page text, links or search results are accurate, complete, current or uninterrupted.
7. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary loss arising from use of this reference or a linked service, including reliance on a record or decision based on it.
8. Responsibility for Misuse
You agree to defend and hold harmless the site operators from claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your unlawful use of the service or violation of these terms.
9. Copyright and Reuse
The original site text, logo, design and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief passage with attribution is welcome. Copying complete pages or republishing the material systematically requires permission.
10. Changes to These Terms
The terms may be revised by posting a new version on this page. Continued use after the updated terms appear means that you accept the changes.
11. West Virginia Law
West Virginia law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Public-record requests to a government custodian are subject to the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code §29B-1-1 and following; see the official public-records statute for its scope and limits.
12. Severability
If a court finds a provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.
